Ugh... I just spent all of this time typing out a paragraph to put in here but then it wouldn't go through. Now I'm going to have to write this out all over again. Okay, here we go.
I have been putting this off for a long time, mostly because of laziness, but also because i don't really find much of a point in making the staff do these things. I feel like all of this is a waste of time and it's virtually pointless, when it comes down to it. Most of the staff already use web 2.0 without even knowing it. The people who do not use the internet should be introduced to it, but i don't think this should be mandatory to all staff. I find it to be a waste of time. But I'll do it anyway just because i have to.

You're absolutely right, many of the staff are using 2.0 activities without even being aware of it. Part of the purpose of the program is to expose staff members to new (and sometimes established) technologies to help them feel more comfortable interacting and helping patrons. Even if someone never uses twitter again, they will know what it is when it's mentioned on their favorite t.v. show.
ReplyDeleteStaff who are already comfortable and use these technologies (of which there are many) are encouraged to mentor and help their coworkers complete the program, especially since it will be much easier (and quicker) for those already comfortable with 2.0 to complete the program.
